Help lives

One of my biggest passions is volunteering. There are too many out there in the world deprived of love and compassion, among many other basic things. Sick and needy kids have an extra tug on my heart, mainly because of their innocence, and also because they are still completely dependent on grown-ups in order to learn and survive. Children are the hope of the future, yet many of them are left hungry, homeless, and uncared for.

I believe there is an innate goodness in each of us, that people have a heart to help and are just looking for avenues to do so. I believe as well that anyone can attest to the wonderful feeling of fulfillment in being able to bless others, especially to those who need those blessings the most. If this is the case for you dear reader, here are some of the charity organizations that I belong to, volunteer at, and/or support, that you may want to help out too. I assure you that the individuals who run these organizations truly act to save and help children’s lives, and do so out of the goodness of their heart.

UPLIFT Movement
Uplift Movement
was founded in January of 2006 with the purpose of uplifting the country, strengthening the nation’s global competitiveness by raising the Filipino’s sense of nationhood, work ethics and spirituality. Among its major focus is education, and the organization aims to provide relief and support to the children in Angono, Rizal–home to some of the country’s poorest of the poor. To date, the organization cares for 400 kids and their families, and are in need of individuals willing to sponsor one child’s annual schooling for only Php500 a month. Various other seasonal programs are in place such as back-to-school supplies drives, medical missions, educational tours, and Saturday English classes.

Force for Good Foundation (FFG)
The Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation was chartered in 1996 and is present in all Nu Skin markets. The foundation’s core mission is to improve the lives of children by offering hope for a life free from disease, illiteracy and poverty. Funded by distributor and employee donations and sales from selected Nu Skin products, each market has selected beneficiaries where the funds are donated. In the Philippines, FFG Foundation’s local charity partner is CHILD Foundation. Various programs are in place, and quarterly events are held, to raise funding for CHILD’s surgeries and medical equipment.

Matthew 5: 14-16 (NIV)
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Your post embraces the need to take action and not just have sympathy. It encourages the heart to move with a desire to have a positive change to others. Truly we have a mission beyond ourselves. Thanks Ren for supporting our advocacy for children in our past events! 😄

Thank you so much for the comment Harv! And it really is a pleasure being part of the great things your U! Happy team is doing. 🙂 We really need to create awareness on the reality that people have to act and not remain passive with what’s going on in the world. There are too many people out there with good hearts who just don’t know it yet!

God bless and more power to U! Happy Events! 🙂
